The Beauty of marriage

The beauty of marriage

John reminded me today that we have been celebrating my birthday since I was 19 years old.
We will celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary this year.

This week celebrates World Marriage Week and CFCA ( Christian Foundation for Children and Aging) is grateful for the gift of loving relationships. Societal, cultural and economic pressures have placed a heavy strain on marriage both in the United States and in developing countries where CFCA serves. But there also are shining examples of marriage to celebrate.

In El Salvador, one couple has remained together for more than 58 years. Miguel remembers when they were very young seeing Maria getting water for her family. He finally got up the courage to talk to her and they have been together ever since.

Miguel makes about $6 a day as a laborer, and their adobe home is owned by a kind neighbor who allows them to stay there. Maria, now blind, depends on Miguel to guide her. They find comfort and support attending monthly CFCA meetings. The love of Miguel and Maria shines through their souls by the companionship, understanding and support they give each other.

Please pray:
O God, you have consecrated the covenant of marriage. Send your blessing on Maria and Miguel and all married persons that they may love, honor, and cherish one another and be a beacon of your love in the world. Amen.

Blessings,
